Almost 40 boats participate in this regatta, which still retains Mount Gay Rum as its principal sponsor.  The regatta has a great tradition for fun sailing, but all the racing classes are very competitive and traditionally the Barbados and Trinidad sailors vie for bragging rights over three days of non-stop action, on and off the waves.  Racing starts on Friday and finishes on Sunday, but there is also a demanding social programme associated with the event, including a ribald finale at the Barbados Yacht Club for the presentation of prizes and the end-of-regatta ‘blow-out’.
