Australia pipped the West Indies in the Bridgetown test after a thrilling finish in the gathering gloom late in the evening of the fifth day. The West Indies will rue a bad day in the field on the 4th day and some poor batting on the morning of the fifth day, but full credit to Aussie skipper Michael Clarke for his bold declaration and backing his players. They responded superbly to win a match in which they played second fiddle for the first three days. The West Indies bowlers also deserve a lot of credit for the way they defended 190 in the final innings and taking seven wickets, but the experienced Mike Hussey held the reply together in the crucial last overs despite some terrific bowling from Deonarine and Roach. The Aussies are now one up in the three match series and will be difficult to peg back.
