Bridgetown – Rugby Barbados World 7s (RBW7s) Tournament Organisers have today officially launched the event to the public by announcing a range of exciting new partnerships, just three months out from the highly-anticipated opening kick-off.
This year, the longest running Club Rugby 7s Tournament in the Caribbean will again be hosted at the iconic 11 000 seat Kensington Oval over 13-14 December, and for the very first time has online newspaper Barbados Today and Barbados Sotheby’s International Realty as the Official Presenting Partners.
As the 2019 RBW7s Official Broadcast Partner, Barbados Today in conjunction with ViralMedia TV will exclusively livestream the two action-packed days of the 2019 Tournament via their online platforms, as well as promote the event to their local, regional and international markets. Barbados Sotheby’s International Realty will be providing RBW7s villa and transport packages to those looking to come to Barbados to watch the Tournament and is also named as the Official 2019 RBW7s Villa Accommodation Partner.
“This is an exciting new collaboration for all involved,” said Peter Harris Chairman of Barbados Today. “We are proud to be the Presenting Partners of such a world-class event and are looking forward to increasing the coverage of the Tournament and injecting a boost into the local tourism industry.”
Now in its fourth year in Barbados since relocating from Trinidad, the Tournament’s ever-growing list of Official Partners are this year offering special deals for RBW7s teams and spectators including everything from discount car rentals, vacation packages, and island tours which are attracting keen interest in Barbados from all over the world.
Manager of the RBW7s Local Organising Committee, George Nicholson, said the Tournament is quickly becoming one of the biggest events on the Rugby events calendar, especially in the Women’s Elite Division. “This year we have 20 of the best international Men’s and Women’s Club Rugby teams competing in RBW7s, so it’s definitely being established a ‘must-do’ event for our overseas Rugby networks including teams from USA, England, Canada, Guadeloupe, St. Lucia, Trinidad and of course Barbados, who will all be chasing the winner’s title in each Division. The prize money has also increased from US $3000 in 2017 to now a massive US $20 000 in the Women’s Elite Division this year so the competition will be even fiercer. Globally, the largest growth we are seeing is with the Women’s teams which is why we have now set our focus on specifically attracting the best of the best from the Women’s Rugby fraternity and remaining as the highest paying Women’s Club Rugby 7s Tournament in the world. It’s an event the entire family can enjoy and with our very affordable ticket prices, I encourage everyone to come out and show their support for Rugby in Barbados and beyond come December,” he said.
In addition to Barbados Today and Barbados Sotheby’s International Realty, Nicholson thanked the remaining list of 2019 RBW7s Official Tournament Partners for their continued support:
