The Barbados Tennis Association has recognized the outstanding performance of the Barbados Davis Cup Team in winning Group II and being promoted to Group I of the Americas of the annual Davis Cup competition.
Dr Raymond Forde, President of the Association, stated “Our Team, comprising Darian King, Haydn Lewis, Seanon Williams and Russell Mosely under the able captaincy of long-standing Davis Cup Captain Kevin Yarde, has performed exceptionally well in placing first among the Latin American nations of Bolivia, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru. We congratulate the Team and express our sincere thanks to our sponsors, partners, volunteers and supporters without whom we would not have had the success we have enjoyed as a member of Group II.”
Dr Forde added “As we move into Group I of the Americas, Barbados will be competing against Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Uruguay, and our first tie is against Dominican Republic in Barbados on March 6-8, 2015. We have started planning for this next tie and will be working with the International Tennis Federation to meet their requirements. We will, of course, be reaching out to the public and all our many stakeholders to ensure a successful tie.”
