Only 29 runs separated Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Zouks at the end of
Wednesday's CPL match at the Kensington Oval but it might as well have been
29 miles as the Barbados team completely outplayed their rivals. Hero of the
hour was Dwayne Smith who scored an amazing 110 not out in an exhilarating
display of power hitting and shot placement. It was an outstanding
performance which took Barbados to 186 for 2 in their 20 overs and an
impregnable position. Unfortunately the crowd was disappointing, with
perhaps the wet weather in the late afternoon or the low key marketing to
blame. However, it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the fans who did make it
and they were treated to an amazing individual performance from home homeboy
Smith.
This is the Tridents' second win in three matches and sets them up well for
the next two games on Friday and Saturday. Let's hope we have a packed
stadium to support them!
