Soccerex Americas Forum opened at the Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre yesterday. Football administrators and celebrities were welcomed in the opening Ceremony by The Hon Richard Sealy, Minister of Tourism and International Transport and the Hon Stephen Lashley, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth. Jeffrey Webb, President of CONCACAF in his opening statement said Barbados 'gets it' when it comes to sports tourism and was the natural choice for the event.  The importance of Sports Tourism to the economy of a country and what holding major events such as the World Cup in Brasil can do for the country as a whole was used to emphasise how vital this sector is.
