It was the visiting Great Britain and Ireland jockeys who carried off the honours for the first time in their annual showdown with the Barbados jockeys on Wednesday afternoon. A large crowd was in attendance at the Garrison for the re-arranged meet after the original date was washed out last Saturday. The conditions were soft and the going tough, but the quality of the racing was high and it included a rare dead heat in the sixth race. The annual event has grown on popularity and the visitors now move on to Trinidad where they will face a combined Caribbean team that will include two Barbadian jockeys.
