A brilliant 82 from skipper Kieron Pollard was not enough to steer the Tridents to their fourth successive win and against the odds the Patriots from St Kitts and Nevis recorded their first win of the 2015 campaign. It didn’t look like a thriller was on the cards when the Patriots posted a modest 143-8, but as so often happens in Twenty20 cricket you can’t take anything for granted. Barbados lost their openers early and then struggled against the pace of Cotterell and Tamir. Pollard and Shoaib Malik rescued the innings, but they fell behind the pace and despite some blistering sixes it all came down to the last over from Peters with 19 needed. Pollard did his best, but some soft umpiring failed to call high bowling and Pollard was run out off the last ball with one still needed.
The match was the last of the four games in Barbados and another large crowd was in attendance despite some uncertainty about the weather. Barbados still top the league table with six points, but they were so close to making it a clean sweep.
