BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – The Barbados senior men’s national football team will face Caribbean neighbours Trinidad & Tobago, Dominican Republic and Montserrat after being drawn in Group B of League B for the 2023/2024 Concacaf Nations League (CNL) tournament.

The draw was conducted last night by Concacaf in Miami, Florida by sports anchor Carmen Boquin in the presence of Concacaf General Secretary Philippe Moggio.

The competition will be played in a three-league format (A, B, and C), with the region’s 41 men’s senior national teams placed into leagues based on the results of the 2022/23 CNL.

Head coach Orlando Da Costa said “ The Concacaf Nations League groups were drawn and we will play Trinidad and Tobago, Dominican Republic and Montserrat, what I can say is that we will try to do better than in the last edition of the Nations League, where we finished last in group A with only three points. We will play the six games, always with the thought of winning, whether at home or away and respecting all opponents.

 

“If we play every game with the right attitude, organization and passion, we will certainly be closer to winning. I make a plea from my heart that the Barbadians come to all home and away games to support our national team. I'm counting on you,” he added.

 

The 2023/24 CNL Group Stage will be played during the official FIFA Match Windows in September, October, and November 2023.

League B will feature 16 national teams divided into four groups of four teams. Each team will play every other team in their group, home and away, for a total of six matches per team (three at home and three away).

 

Group A: Guadeloupe, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Sint Maarten.

Group B: Trinidad and Tobago, Dominican Republic, Montserrat, and Barbados.

Group C: French Guiana, Bermuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Belize.

Group D: Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, Puerto Rico, and Bahamas.

 

There will be a promotion and relegation component. Group winners will be promoted to League A, and fourth-place finishers will be relegated to League C. Concacaf is set to announce the full competition schedule soon.
